You need a lot of other stuff to do good metal detecting. I have three extra search coils for my White's XLT. The each serve a different purpose. I have a White's Pinpointer Detector, to pinpoint an object once you've located it. I have folding digging shovels, garden spades, treasure aprons, sand shakers for the beach, and of course treasure aprons to hold the goodies you fine.
Another most important thing you must do is get permission to search and to leave the place clean after the hunt.
